Exeter's Legal Community Raises £2,780 for City Tribute

Members of Exeter‘s legal community raised over £2,500 for the creation of a permanent cultural tribute to the buildings that perished in last year’s Cathedral Yard fire.

Property Search Group came up with the idea of bringing together Exeter’s law firms to raise money for the Historic Exeter Fire Appeal, by commissioning and auctioning a painting of a day in the life of Southernhay, traditionally the city’s legal hub.  The unique and quirky painting, created by Devon artist and illustrator Sara Nunan, features the city’s solicitors and barristers enjoying their hobbies and interests from surfing to singing and rugby to reading....

Devon Community Foundation hosted its annual Volunteer of the Year Awards sponsored by Quilter Cheviot last week, honouring the hard work and achievements of the many volunteers making a real difference in our Devon communities. Devon Law Firm Shows Support For Local People

Kitsons Solicitors has shown its ongoing commitment to making a difference to vulnerable local people by awarding Jasmyn House Technology £1,000.

The grant will support volunteers in Torbay to enable blind and visually impaired people to learn skills on computers, increasing their skills and building confidence in their abilities while helping to reduce the isolation often felt by those suffering from sight loss.

Businesses from across Torbay, Teignbridge and Exeter came together for a Christmas Quiz hosted by leading Devon law firm Kitsons, raising over £1,000 for the Devon Community Foundation.

110 local professionals competed in Kitsons’ Christmas Quiz, held at the Grand Hotel, Torquay on Wednesday 26th November. Teams were entered by accountants; Bishop Fleming, Darnells, Francis Clark and Peplows, bankers; HSBC and Lloyds, property agents; Bettesworths and Waycotts, plus representatives from; B&Q Newton Abbot, Charles Royle, Country Bus, Pavey Group, and Lazy Jacks.

Kitsons Managing Partner James Cross attended Devon Community Foundations' Volunteer of the Year Awards 2014 last Thursday, to present the firm's sponsored award - Creating Opportunities for Children & Young People.
