The Kitsons Devon Classic Bike Ride 2016

The Kitsons Devon Classic Bike Ride took place last weekend on Sunday 17th July, starting and finishing at Sandy Park in Exeter, the home of the high-flying Exeter Chiefs RFC.

The event was in aid of Hospiscare & Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education and included a choice of three distances: 100, 55 and 25 miles. 

A total of 15 Kitsons staff members participated n the ride and they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. 

A big thank you to everyone who attended and supported on the day! 

Rowcroft Hospice Sleep Walk 2016

Kitsons Solicitors were proud sponsors of this year's Rowcroft Hospice Sleep Walk 2016. 

More than 1,800 ladies aged ten and over took part in the choice of five or ten mile night walks on Saturday 9 July. The money raised from the Sleep Walk helps this fantastic charity which is committed to helping its patients make the most of every moment. 

It's always a pleasure to be a part of this great local charity and we are very pleased to hear that Rowcroft may exceed £1 million in donations this year. Well done to everyone involved. 

Cockington Riding Club - Dressage Event

On Friday, 15th July, Kitsons sponsored an Informal Evening Dressage & Clear Round Showjumping Event at Bellamarsh Farm, just outside Chudleigh organised by the Cockington Riding Club.

There were 6 classes in total with 36 rosettes up for grabs. Competition was fierce and there were over 50 entrants of ranging abilities and  experience of horse and rider. The weather was kind and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Rosie Evans and Christian Robertson attended on behalf of Kitsons and presented a number of rosettes.

Marjorie Creek, a Solicitor and Sophie Carruthers, an Apprentice in Kitsons' Plympton office, were delighted to hand over a cheque for the sum of £925.00 to St Luke’s Hospice from participating in their recent Make a Will Week

Badge for Batten Day

As our countdown for the Euro 2016 Championship comes ever closer to an end, staff at Kitsons decided to wear their favourite sports shirts in memory of our colleague Mark Batten who sadly passed away two years ago.

In return for wearing their shirts, staff made a donation to The British Heart Foundation, a charity supported by Mark. 

The Legal Walk 2016

On Monday 6th June, a team of walkers from Kitsons embarked on the 10km Legal Walk around Exeter City Centre.

It was a lovely route, and the weather was on our side, making for a great evening for all involved – with some much deserved drinks at the finish!

A big thank you to everyone who donated, we managed to raise a total of £225 for SWLST!

Our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is core to all aspects of our operation, from the way we conduct our business to the ways in which we contribute to the Devon community.

Each year the firm supports a variety of charities across Devon and encourages staff to get involved with fundraising and volunteering activities.

Our CSR programme is led by Kitsons' Marketing and CSR Team which includes people from across our three offices in Torquay, Exeter and Plymouth.

St Luke's Hospice Make a Will Week

Kitsons are participating in the St Luke’s Hospice Make a Will Week which is running from Monday 16th to Friday 20th May 2016.  Marjorie Creek, one of our private client solicitors and a former palliative care nurse at St Luke’s, is giving her time free of charge to update or write Wills, in return for a donation to St Luke’s in support of her former colleagues.

Last year the Make a Will Week raised £10,000 for St Luke’s. That’s enough in one week to provide specialist care to 10 people at home, giving them access to a variety of care including...

It has been reported in the worldwide press, that when the late music superstar Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson filed probate documents with the Carver County District Court in Minnesota yesterday, that she could not produce a valid will in his name and therefore, it is believed, that he died intestate.

With a persona famous for exercising a tight control over his name, image, recordings and a music catalogue estimated on his death to be worth over $500 million with a reported 2.3 million songs and 580,000 albums sold since then; it is clear that Prince leaves behind an enormously complicated estate...
