Posted by on December 8th 2014 in Kitsons News

Over 40 delegates attended a disciplinary and investigation seminar held by Kitsons Solicitors and Harwick HR at Buckfast Abbey earlier this month. The seminar examined the issues surrounding the process and pitfalls of conducting disciplinaries and investigations in the workplace.

Jointly hosted by Rhodri Davey, Partner and Head of Employment at Kitsons, and Carolyn Giles, Head of Hardwick HR Consultancy Services, the seminar looked at the legal and practical issues involved.

The seminar was voted a success by delegates and following the excellent feedback it has been decided that these events will now take place every six months.

Here's a couple of photos from the...

Children's Christmas Party

Posted by on December 8th 2014 in Kitsons News

Thanks to the Partners and Staff at Kitsons, we all enjoyed a fantastic day at Minerva House (our Head Office) for a Children’s Christmas Party.

First came Alan the Magician, with a full range of tricks. Alan managed to involve most of the audience, including the baked bean can through the head!

Throw in a bit of plate spinning and balloon artistry for good measure and the kids (and adults) were hooked.

Then came the feast for chocolate and sugary things. There were a few cherry tomatoes and cucumber sections thrown in for good measure, but what good is a cherry...

SDLT Changes: How Will It Affect You?

Posted by on December 3rd 2014 in Blog Posts, Property

It was announced in today’s Autumn Statement that the old ‘slab’ system will be replaced so home buyers pay the tax at gradually increasing rates on tranches of the total value of the property – similar to income tax – rather than a single rate on the whole transaction, eliminating the steep jump in tax paid when properties cross, for example, the £250,000 threshold.

Buyers will pay no stamp duty on...

Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge 2015

Posted by on November 10th 2014 in Kitsons News

Partners and staff at Kitsons Solicitors will be taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in July 2015 in aid of Diabetes UK. The Challenge will be completed in memory of our colleague Mark Batten, who passed away suddenly in March 2014.

Mark worked at Kitsons for over 35 years and was an active supporter of the firm. In 2013 when the firm took on the National Three Peaks Challenge, Mark acted as a volunteer driver from our head office in Torquay to Scotland and back.

As Mark had a link with Diabetes UK, it seemed the natural choice for this fundraising effort.

If you would...
