Businesses from across Torbay, Teignbridge and Exeter came together for a Christmas Quiz hosted by leading Devon law firm Kitsons, raising £1,000 for the Youth Genesis Trust.

130 local professionals competed in Kitsons’ Christmas Quiz, held at The Palace Hotel, Torquay on Wednesday 2nd December. Teams were entered by accountants; Francis Clark, Bishop Fleming, Darnells and Peplows, bankers; HSBC and Lloyds, property agents; Bettesworths and Waycotts, plus representatives from; Pavey Group, Croft Surveyors, Charles Royle, Herald Express, Carrs Ferrari, El-Nashar Dental Care, B&Q Newton Abbot and Country Bus.

Kitsons Managing Partner, James Cross opened the evening’s proceedings with a warm welcome and a special mention of the many prizes that had been generously donated to the raffle, including meal vouchers courtesy of The Riverford Field Kitchen and The Babbacombe Inn, signed shirts from Exeter Chiefs and Torquay United Football Club, tickets to Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts, a 12-month subscription to Devon Life magazine, afternoon tea for two at The Palace Hotel and a treatment voucher from Rococo Beauty Salon in Torquay. Prizes were also donated on the night by local businesses entering teams.

Following eight gruelling rounds, the winners of the impressive 2015 Kitsons Christmas Quiz trophy were accountants Bishop Fleming and their team ‘Ledger-endry’, closely followed by the Herald Express and their team the ‘Heralds Hot Shots’ who finished just four points behind. In last place were the ‘Les Quizarables’ made up of staff from Darnells who were presented with a consolatory wooden spoon.

James Cross, Managing Partner at Kitsons said: “The turnout from local businesses was excellent and the Quiz was an overwhelming success! It’s fair to say there was some healthy competition throughout the rounds but an enjoyable evening was had by all and, most importantly, we raised awareness and money for the fantastic Youth Genesis Trust.”

Youth Genesis Trust works with young people in Torbay ho lack opportunities to engage in employment, training and education or are involved in risk taking behaviour such as offending and substance misuse. Volunteers work with the young people encouraging them to make a positive transition into adulthood.

Jonathan Oliverio, Youth Work Co-ordinator at Youth Genesis Trust said: “We’re really grateful for this fantastic display of support that Kitsons have shown to the community. With this money, Youth Genesis will be able to continue to provide important activities and support for many of our young people across Torbay.”
