Devon Law Firm Shows Support For Local People

Posted on June 11th 2015 by

Kitsons Solicitors has shown its ongoing commitment to making a difference to vulnerable local people by awarding Jasmyn House Technology £1,000.

The grant will support volunteers in Torbay to enable blind and visually impaired people to learn skills on computers, increasing their skills and building confidence in their abilities while helping to reduce the isolation often felt by those suffering from sight loss.

Kitsons, which has offices in Torquay, Exeter and Plymouth, set up a Fund with local charity Devon Community Foundation a number of years ago to enable the firm to support community projects across Devon, forever. Staff at Kitsons help to decide which local causes to support and continue to fundraise to add to the Fund which now stands at £50,000.

James Cross, Managing Partner of Kitsons said: “The Foundation does an amazing job, using its own resources to promote groups in Devon. As a local legal firm we are deeply embedded in our communities and we are entirely dedicated to making a real difference for the people in them, which is why we created the fund.”

Christine Newcombe, of Jasmyn House Technology said: “On behalf of Jasmyn House Technology Team, we would like to thank Devon Community Foundation and Kitsons Solicitors for their financial support which is absolutely essential for our small group to function and be able to benefit blind and visually impaired people in our community to receive one to one tuition.”

Martha Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Devon Community Foundation added: “Being able to support local groups like Jasmyn House is absolutely essential to our neighbourhoods and is exactly why the Foundation exists. Each and every group we invest in goes above and beyond to help people in need and makes a huge difference to those living in our local communities.”

Devon Community Foundation’s Summer Grant Round opens on the 29th June, so community projects in need of a cash boost should complete an expression of interest to find out whether they are eligible for funding.
