Businesses from across Torbay, Teignbridge and Exeter came together for a Christmas Quiz hosted by leading Devon law firm Kitsons, raising over £1,000 for the Devon Community Foundation.
110 local professionals competed in Kitsons’ Christmas Quiz, held at the Grand Hotel, Torquay on Wednesday 26th November. Teams were entered by accountants; Bishop Fleming, Darnells, Francis Clark and Peplows, bankers; HSBC and Lloyds, property agents; Bettesworths and Waycotts, plus representatives from; B&Q Newton Abbot, Charles Royle, Country Bus, Pavey Group, and Lazy Jacks.
Kitsons Managing Partner, James Cross opened the evening’s proceedings with a warm welcome and a special mention of the many prizes that had been generously donated to the raffle, including a meal voucher courtesy of The Babbacombe Inn, tickets to Plymouth National Marine Aquarium donated by the Aquarium, a 12-month subscription to Devon Life magazine and a voucher for a set of acrylic nails donated by Rococo Beauty Salon in Torquay.
Christine Allison one of the Trustees of the Devon Community Foundation addressed the quiz participants detailing the numerous ways DCF helps communities through its grants to grass roots organisations in Torbay and throughout Devon.
Following eight gruelling rounds, the winners of the impressive Kitsons Christmas Quiz trophy this year were Newton Abbot based accountants, Peplows, closely followed by HSBC & Lazy Jacks who finished just five points behind. In last place was the ‘Bay City Pay-Rollers’ made up of staff from Bishop Fleming who were presented with a consolatory wooden spoon.
James Cross, Managing Partner at Kitsons said: “The turnout from local businesses was excellent and the Quiz was an overwhelming success! It’s fair to say there was some healthy competition throughout the rounds but an enjoyable evening was had by all and, most importantly, we raised awareness and money for the fantastic Devon Community Foundation.”
Following on from the success of this year’s Christmas Quiz, Kitsons are already planning an even bigger event for November 2015, more details coming soon.
