“With immediate effect, Simon Armitage no longer works for Kitsons Solicitors.

Simon joined Kitsons as a Partner on 1st June 2013 to specialise in residential Conveyancing and Probate work, bringing with him his practice Armitage & Co. Both parties had wanted to merge Simon’s clients into Kitsons where they could be offered a wider range of advice and assistance.

In February 2014 Kitsons received a complaint from one of Simon’s clients, an internal investigation followed during which what appeared to be evidence of financial irregularities on a small number of files brought to the firm by Simon were reported to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

As a firm we take our responsibilities very seriously. All Simon’s files have therefore been allocated to Kitsons personnel and we look forward to dealing with Simon’s clients in the future when we can offer all of them a first rate service form a well regulated and managed firm.

Kitsons’ complaints procedure is all part of its management systems and the integration of Lexcel which is the Law Society's practice management standard. Lexcel is the quality mark which assures clients and prospective clients that we meet the required standards of excellence in areas such as client care, case management and risk management. The firm undergoes yearly independent assessment to ensure we continue meet standards of excellence. Our systems are robust, tried and tested and in place to pick up such irregularities as we have found here.

We appreciate your co-operation at this time as we cannot currently provide any further information."
