Teign Expansion for South West Law Firm

South Devon law firm Kitsons has announced plans to expand its Newton Abbot office, with the addition of 4 team members to its Teignbridge offering.

The firm which also has its Head office in Torquay as well as offices in Exeter, and Plymouth is ranked as one of the region’s leading firms.

Heading that expansion will be Joint Managing Partner Andrew Perkins, who was born and educated in Newton Abbot area and is now one of the region’s leading lawyers, recognised in the leading independent guides to the legal profession ‘Legal 500’ and ‘Chambers & Partners’, for his expertise in dealing with commercial disputes and commended for his “commercial knowledge and business acumen”.

Perkins, who also serves as a Governor of Rowcroft Hospice and is Chairman of Kingsteignton based Mid-Devon Cycling Club, explains that he is very pleased to be heading up the expansion plans.

“Having been born and brought up in the Teignbridge area and living in it now, it’s especially pleasing to be heading up the growth of this office. The Teignbridge area is very much ‘on the up’ at the moment. I heard one of the local councillors recently describe the area as a ‘sleeping giant’ and I very much agree with that view. Teignbridge has an excellent infrastructure to support business and a forward-thinking council with a desire to see the area prosper. The council’s strategic aims for the district are very exciting and it’s Kitsons’ confidence in the district that is seeing it invest in the office expansion. With around 120,000 residents presently in the greater Teignbridge area and plans on the horizon for many new homes around the district, Teignbridge’s potential is very significant indeed”

“Joining me at the firm’s Devon Square office are two of our brightest young lawyers, each with strong ties to the area. Christian Robertson specialises in Commercial Property issues and in Licensing. Christian lives in Decoy and was educated at Teign School and South Devon College and played for a number of years at Teignmouth and Newton Abbot Rugby Clubs. He has 10 years experience gained at the Court Service and with some of the South-West’s leading firms and will be a huge asset to the office.”

“Also joining us will be Jayme Nicholson, who specialises in Employment Law and who advises large and small employers throughout the South West. Jayme, who also attended Teign School, joined the firm 8 years ago whilst taking a break from University. We were quick to spot her talent and recruited her to join the firm when she qualified - she’s been an extremely valuable member of the team ever since.”

“The revamped office will continue to offer a full range of legal services both to businesses and to individuals including specialist teams in building development and construction, dispute resolution, conveyancing, business sale and purchase, estate planning and licensing, leisure and tourism with plans to add another lawyer to the team in early spring.”
