Kitsons Christmas Quiz

The Kitsons Christmas Quiz, held at The Grand Hotel Torquay, on Tuesday 22 November was a massive success raising around £1,000.00 for the Devon Community Foundation with approximately 135 people representing businesses from Torbay, Teignbridge and Exeter.

Teams were entered by accountants; Lameys, Francis Clark and Bishop Fleming, bankers; RBS, Lloyds and Natwest, local businesses; Sparkworld, Europlas and Country Bus, plus representatives from Torbay Council, the Herald Express and Chalk & Ward Advertising.

Managing Partner James Cross opened the evening’s proceedings with a warm welcome and a special mention of the many prizes that had been generously donated to the raffle, including tickets to Paignton Zoo, membership to Kent’s Cavern and a dinner party in a box courtesy of the English Table.

Martha Wilkinson, Chief Executive of the Devon Community Foundation then spoke about the Surviving Winter Appeal and suggested numerous ways in which we could help.  The shocking statistics hit home and were a sobering reminder of why events such as these are so crucial.

In first place and winners of the impressive Kitsons Christmas Quiz trophy were Newton Abbot based accountants, Peplows, closely followed by Francis Clark who finished a near second.  In last place were accountants Bishop Fleming who were presented with a consolatory wooden spoon.

Due to the overwhelming success of the evening and the enormous amount raised for charity, Kitsons are planning to make the quiz an annual event and hope to receive even more support in 2012.  The date of next year’s quiz will be released soon.
