Big Midnight Walk 2010

Twelve intrepid Kitsons' ladies and 1700 other walkers "sparkled" their way around Torbay's Third Annual Big Midnight Walk, raising much needed funds for Rowcroft Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Care.

This year's theme was "sparkling" and many of the ladies dressed up in shiny fancy dress taking part in the fun walk....... and fun was had by all!  The atmosphere was electric with a real sense of community spirit among everyone on this truly special night.

They set off from Torbay Leisure Centre on a balmy evening.  The 13 mile route starting at Paignton Leisure Centre took them along the seafront up to Torquay's Palace Hotel and finishing back where they started.  The walkers were encouraged along the way by their colleagues from Kitsons as well as others who not only helped out on the night but also sponsored the event.

For those of us who have been touched by Cancer, we are grateful to the work done by organisations such as Rowcroft and Macmillan.

The care and support they give patients and their families at this difficult time is not just limited to inpatient care at the hospice but also to patients in residential and nursing homes, in community hospitals, in people's homes through services that include a community team, lymphoedema clinic, out-patient services and in-patient unit.

So the money raised for the Big Midnight Walk for both Rowcroft Hospice and Macmillan cancer support helps to keep it going.

So far money pledged is £170,000 but the two charities are hoping for more. The money pledged would make a huge difference to the work of Rowcroft Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.
