David Campbell
Barrister
David is a Barrister with our licensing and regulatory team, based in Exeter but accepting instructions from across the southwest.
Having been awarded a scholarship by the Inner Temple he was called to the Bar in 1992 and practised throughout London and the Western Circuit for 16 years.
In 2008 he moved to Devon working for Devon and Cornwall Constabulary where he represented and advised the Police before all types of tribunals including at Judicial review.
Retraining as a regulatory lawyer he gained both legal and operational knowledge of all aspects of law relating to Police work. His experience with them included advising and advocacy in Licensing, White collar crime as well as internal and external regulatory matters. He regularly appeared in relation to disclosure, firearms and other non CPS matters and was awarded a Commanders commendation for his work.
He has lectured and trained both internally and externally including PSNI in relation to covert tactics and disclosure, Police officers on licensing and anti social behaviour. Presently he is giving presentations to Dorset Trading Standards and the regional social Housing providers at their annual forum in relation to bespoke areas of law.
At Kitsons he brings this unique experience to be able to ensure that a client can be advised and represented at all levels of tribunal and Court saving the expense of having to instruct Counsel from a chambers as well as paying the services of a Solicitor.
He accepts instructions from private individuals, Companies and government agencies (for whom he has a secure email facility).
